Common Water Problems

Hard Water

Hard water is made up of dissolved magnesium, calcium, and iron. Hard water can cause dry skin & hair, spots on silverware, water fixtures, and glass. It also shortens the life expectancy of your washer, dish washer, and any water-using appliance.

bad smelling & taste

Odors & Tastes

Most odors & taste are not toxic, but they are not pleasant to be around. If your water smells like rotten eggs, then your water has hydrogen sulfide. This is colorless and corrosive gas that will accelerate the corrosion of your water appliances.

Cloudy Water

Cloudy, grayish, or murky water is most commonly caused by suspended or dissolved solids (aka turbidity).  Turbid can come naturally (good) or it might be from a land disturbances such as urban runoff, storms, and/ or construction(bad).  We recommending have your water tested.

Chlorine Taste

Chlorine is used as a disinfectant in order to kill harmful bacteria in water.  Having high chlorine levels will cause your skin and hair to become dry and shortens the life water appliances that come into contact with rubber.

Rust Colored Staining

When water contains manganese or iron it can cause a black or rusty-orange staining.  This is usually found on tubs, sinks, fixtures, clothes, toilets, and appliances using water.

Blue-Green Staining

Blue-green staining happens because the water has too low of a pH level.  If your pH level is low, you'll notice your showers, sinks, tubs, toilets and even clothes may have blue-green staining.
